Local Boards of education are entrusted by their communities to uphold the Constitution, protect the public interest in schools, and ensure that a high quality education is provided to each student. The role of the trustees who sit on locally elected school Boards is to ensure that school districts are responsive to the values, beliefs and priorities of their communities. Boards fulfill this role by performing five major responsibilities. These are setting direction; establishing an effective and efficient structure; providing support; ensuring accountability; and providing community leadership as advocates for children, the school district and public schools. Board members fulfill these responsibilities by working together as a governance team with the superintendent to make decisions that will best serve all the students in the community.
There are five members of the Gold Trail Union School District Board of Trustees.
Members’ terms are for four years and are staggered so that no more than three members are elected in any one election.

Regular Meetings
The Board of Trustees holds one Regular meeting on the second Thursday of each month at Sutter's Mill Multi-Purpose Room, starting at 6:00 p.m. (unless otherwise noted) with a public comment session.
Public Comment Sessions
The Board holds public comment sessions (the "Open Hearing" item on every agenda) at each of its Regular Meetings to listen to comments about student achievement, budget policy, or any matter that is within the Governing Board's power to act. Note that an Open Hearing on a Special Board Meeting is limited to topics actually on the posted agenda.
In compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act, for those requiring special assistance to access the Board meeting room, to access written documents being discussed at the Board meeting, or to otherwise participate at Board meetings, please contact the Board Secretary, Keri Phillips, at (530) 626-3194 for assistance.
